Which state will get how much money
- ‘Mother Sanction’ is a kind of big financial sanction, which the Central Government gives at the beginning of the year for any scheme. This lets the states know how much total money they will get and then funds are released as per the need.
- The central government aims to provide ‘permanent’ houses to the homeless people in rural India through this step.
Every poor person will have a permanent house
- On this occasion, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, “It is the resolve of the Prime Minister that every poor person should have a permanent house. To fulfill this, a campaign is going on since 2016 to provide a permanent house to every homeless person through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin.”
- Describing the progress of the scheme, the Minister said that significant achievements have been made in the field of rural housing.
- He said, “Under this scheme, we have approved 3.91 crore houses in rural areas, out of which more than 3.5 crore houses have been constructed. The houses built under the Urban Housing Scheme are different from this.”
- Uttar Pradesh Rural Development Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, Rajasthan Minister Kirori Lal Meena, Assam Minister Atul Bora and Jharkhand Minister Deepika Pandey also participated in this program through video conferencing. Apart from these, Rohit Kansal, Secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development and many senior officials of the Center and States were also present.
- The Union Minister also praised the new experiments being done by the states. He said that many states have done good work like helplines, grievance redressal systems, rainwater harvesting and increasing employment through self-help groups, due to which the goals of the scheme are being achieved quickly.
- Referring to women empowerment, the Union Minister said that under PMAY-G, about 75% of the houses are either in the name of women or in joint ownership. This has increased the respect and social security of women.
- Chauhan said that some poor families face difficulty in building houses due to lack of land. In such cases, states should take special initiative to provide land and ensure necessary assistance.
- He asked the states to resolve the pending complaints quickly, complete the ongoing housing projects quickly and utilize the funds released at the right time. He also said that some states have not yet completed the approvals as per the targets for 2024-25 and 2025-26, which should be completed by June 30, 2026.
- PMAY-G scheme is continuously working towards transforming rural India. The Government is committed to ensure that no deserving rural family is deprived of a permanent house and that every family gets the basic amenities necessary for a dignified life. (ANI)
