Gujarat Rain News: At least 14 people lost their lives in Gujarat due to unseasonal rains, strong winds and thunderstorms that swept through several parts of the state on Monday, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued adverse weather for the next few days, warning of heavy rainfall, lightning and gusty winds in various districts.
The deaths were reported from several districts including three in Vadodara, two in Ahmedabad, two in Aravalli, four in Kheda, one in Anand and two in Dahod. Among the fatalities, four people died after trees fell on them, two were killed by falling hoardings, two were electrocuted, three were struck by lightning, and three others died due to collapsing structures. In addition, 26 animals died in the rain.
Officials in Dahod reported that more than a dozen huts were destroyed after a fire spread rapidly due to strong winds in Limkheda area.

The IMD has issued yellow and orange alerts for the state due to the stormy weather. According to the department, a cyclonic circulation over southern Pakistan and southwestern Rajasthan, along with another over the northeast Arabian Sea and northern Marathwada, is influencing the current weather conditions in Gujarat.
Gujarat Weather: IMD Forecasts Very Heavy Rain In THESE Districts
The IMD forecast suggests the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in more than 75 percent of the state on May 6, especially in Kutch, Banaskantha and parts of Mehsana, Patan, and Morbi. Winds could reach speeds of 60 to 70 kmph.
On May 7, gusts may increase to 70-80 kmph with heavy rain likely in parts of Kutch, Banaskantha, Patan and Sabarkantha. May 8 is also expected to see thundershowers in most regions, with winds of 50 to 60 kmph.
Rainfall between 2 to 4 inches is predicted in some areas. Hailstorms are also expected in 15 districts. The sudden change in weather may cause temperatures to fall by 3 to 5 degrees, offering relief from the ongoing heat.
