Bengal Weather Update: IMD Warns Of Kalbaisakhi Storm In Several Districts Tomorrow, Rain To Continue Till May 7

Bengal Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of a Kalbaisakhi storm across seven districts in West Bengal, starting Saturday afternoon.

While Friday remained dry, thunderstorms and gusty winds are expected to affect several parts of South Bengal till Wednesday, bringing much-needed relief from the rising summer temperatures.

Districts On Alert

South 24 Parganas: Rain accompanied by gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph.

Bankura and Purulia: Heavy rainfall with winds at 30-40 kmph expected.

East Midnapore: Kalbaisakhi likely with similar wind speeds and rain.

West Midnapore, Burdwan, Birbhum, Murshidabad and Nadia: High chances of thunderstorms and rain from Sunday onward.

North Bengal Weather

Thunderstorms and gusty winds forecasted till Tuesday in Darjeeling and Malda. Darjeeling Hills and surrounding areas may experience intense thunderstorm activity on Sunday.

A cyclonic circulation in southeast Rajasthan is influencing weather patterns in north Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand. This system is bringing moisture into the region, causing heavy to extremely heavy rains in West Bengal and parts of coastal Bangladesh.

Although the severity of Kalbaisakhi may ease slightly on Sunday, thunderstorms are expected to continue in at least eight South Bengal districts. Light to moderate rainfall is expected in scattered locations through Wednesday or Thursday next week.
