Bangladesh to face Pakistan for five T20Is in May-June

Bangladesh are all set to travel to Pakistan to face the Men in Green for a five-match T20I series in May 2025, the host board confirmed.

The series will be played in Faisalabad and Lahore from May 25 to June 03.

The Iqbal Stadium has previously hosted 24 Tests and 16 ODIs between 1978 and 2008. This match will be the first of an international game between two countries after a 17-year gap. This venue hosted the last international fixture was a One-Day International between Bangladesh and Pakistan in April 2008.

“The series, which is part of the Future Tour Programme (FTP), originally consisted of three ODIs and three T20Is. However, with the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup scheduled for next year, both the boards have mutually agreed to replace the ODIs with two additional T20Is,” a PCB release read.

The Iqbal Cricket Stadium in Faisalabad will host two of the opening games of the series, which are scheduled on May 25 and 27, respectively. The venue recently hosted the inaugural Champions One-Day in September in 2024 and National T20 Cup in March.

The Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will host the remaining three fixtures on May 30, June 01 and 03, respectively. All the games will begin at 8pm local time. Bangladesh players will arrive on May 21 and will take on the training sessions at the Iqbal Stadium from May 22 to 24.

BCB elections near as President Faruque Ahmed confirms participation

Meanwhile, the latest development has it that Bangladesh Cricket Board president Faruque Ahmed announced his participation in the upcoming board elections, scheduled for October 2025. The former national cricketer replaced Nazmul Hasan as the board president on August 20. The former chief selector was under radar for several issues relating to match fixing scandals, and financial irregularities.

“I think there is a section who had done corruption in the Board and are still trying to demean me. What is the easiest job for them (as I understand) is that if there are four columns written against me based on lies, they think that I am such a man that I will resign. So there is a game that they are playing intentionally and now, I am thinking I will try to fight in the election because the problem will not be solved if I quit,” Faruque was quoted on Khaled Mohiuddin’s show Thikana.
