MotoGP testing at Jerez saw plenty of news yesterday, on a day that was perfect as far as riding conditions were concerned. One name stood out in particular, in both sessions: Marc Márquez.
The Ducati Lenovo Team rider was fastest on track in both sessions. In the first he beat Fabio Quartararo by 0.222s, while Johann Zarco was third.
Marco Bezzecchi was ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio, who rounded off the top five. Only KTM missed out on the top five, although they were just behind in sixth place with Maverick Viñales.
Álex Márquez, who is officially a MotoGP race winner on Sunday, was seventh, ahead of Álex Rins, with Brad Binder and Fermín Aldeguer rounding off the top ten.
For the second session of the day Márquez was once again the standout, now lapping inside the second 35, specifically in 1:35.876s. Viñales improved his time and was second, ahead of Quartararo.
Yamaha showed signs of growth with Álex Rins in fourth, as did KTM, with Pedro Acosta fifth.
Bezzecchi was again the best Aprilia, in sixth, ahead of Aldeguer – again the best rookie – in seventh, while Raúl Fernández came in with the eighth fastest time of the day, ahead of Zarco again. Álex Márquez rounded off the top ten.
