Marco Bezzecchi finished the Sprint in Jerez in eighth place, describing the race as “decent” and revealing that he had made important progress compared to previous practice sessions
Bezzecchi evaluated his race realistically, acknowledging the effort made: ‘It was a decent race. A good race is fighting for the podium. I can’t complain much; I gave everything and improved my time considerably compared to yesterday.’
The Italian explained how his race unfolded, initially fighting with Joan Mir: ‘I made a good start, fought with Mir and then tried to follow Maverick [Viñales]. I managed to get closer, but not enough to overtake.’
An error on the last lap almost compromised his race, but Bezzecchi managed to recover: ‘On the last lap, I almost fell at turn six. I went wide, but managed to return and fight with Mir again.’
About the difficulties of overtaking in Sprints, he was clear: ‘With the soft tire, everyone accelerates very quickly. From my position, it was difficult to overtake, because Maverick was slightly faster.’
