New Delhi: Suzuki have found a braking issue on the Gixxer 250 and 250F, as it has been determined that a few units have been fitted with the wrong rear brake calliper assembly from the V-Strom SX. It came to notice when it was discovered that a rear brake calliper assembly made for the V-Strom SX had gone to the Gixxer 250 and 250 SF motorcycles.
While for a short duration it is usable, the incorrect fitment eventually makes the brake pads press against the disc unevenly. This means riders could see accelerated and irregular pad wear, and once the untouched areas start to bite, braking efficiency will see a drop by a good margin.
Suzuki have themselves acknowledged the issue and are expected to initiate a service campaign in order to swap the incorrect callipers with the ones made for Gixxer 250 units. There are 5145 units of the two, produced between February 2022 and June 2025, that were affected. Suzuki will carry out the inspection and replacement without charging the owners.
Owners who have purchased their Gixxers during the time frame would need to get their motorcycles inspected at the earliest possibility in order to ensure that the braking performance isn’t compromised. With the monsoons in heavy swing this year, braking is an integral part of driving.
