When the eagle flew away from there with it, it was attacked on the way. The result was that the semen fell into the river. At that time there was a nymph in the river. Her name was Adrika. She was cursed by Brahma, due to which she became a fish. His time was being spent in the river itself.

She ingested the king’s semen and became pregnant. After this, in the tenth month a fisherman threw his net. This big fish got stuck in it. A newborn boy and girl emerged from the stomach of that fish. Then the fisherman took them to the king. At the same time, Apsara freed herself from the curse of Brahma and went into the sky. King Uparichar told the fisherman that this girl is now yours.

The king adopted the boy. Later his name was Matsya and he became a religious king. On the other hand, as the girl grew up, she became very beautiful. Since she lived with the fishermen in their colony, she was named Matsyagandha. That was Satyavati. Later she was married to Maharaja Shantanu of Hastinapur.
