Auli Carnival to be held with National Winter Games in February; snow slopes ready for grand celebration

Chamoli: Auli, the famous ski destination of Uttarakhand, is once again in the spotlight. With temperatures dropping to minus five degrees and the lake frozen, the region has become a paradise for tourists and adventure seekers.

The Tourism Department has now decided to organize the Auli Carnival along with the National Winter Games, making the event even more special.

Auli Carnival and the National Winter Games would be held together

Tourism Secretary Dheeraj Garbyal recently held a meeting in Dehradun with officials from the Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN), the Tourism Department, and the Winter Games Association. After discussions, it was agreed that both the Auli Carnival and the National Winter Games would be held together in the second week of February. The exact dates will be announced soon.

Abundant snow on Auli’s south-facing slopes has created perfect conditions for skiing

Officials explained that the abundant snow on Auli’s south-facing slopes has created perfect conditions for skiing and other winter sports. The Nanda Devi ski slope, one of the most popular in the region, has enough snow to host the National Games. This has encouraged the Tourism Department to plan a grand celebration that will attract visitors from across India and abroad.

Winter Games Association President Harshmani Vyas, Secretary Rakesh Ranjan, and ski coach Ajay Bhatt attended the meeting and suggested that the National Games be scheduled in February. They emphasized that ski teams from different states need timely information to prepare for the competition. Their recommendation was accepted, and preparations have already begun.

Special arrangements are being made

The Auli Carnival is expected to be a major attraction for tourists. GMVN and Tourism Department officials stated that they are fully prepared to host the event. Special arrangements are being made to ensure that visitors enjoy both the carnival and the skiing championship. The Tourism Secretary directed officials to begin preparations immediately and announced that another meeting will soon be held in Auli to finalize details.

Auli is set to welcome thousands of tourists and athletes

With the lake frozen and the slopes covered in snow, Auli is set to welcome thousands of tourists and athletes. The combination of the Auli Carnival and the National Winter Games promises to make February a memorable month for Uttarakhand, showcasing its natural beauty, cultural richness, and adventure tourism potential.
