Donald Trump attacks Grammys 2026: The 68th Grammy Awards wrapped up with music, milestones and controversy, but it was the post-show fallout that dominated headlines. US President Donald Trump launched a sharp public attack on the ceremony and its host, Trevor Noah, after a series of jokes aimed at his administration during the live broadcast.
Noah, hosting the Grammys for the final time, sprinkled political humour throughout the night. His monologue included pointed remarks referencing the much-discussed Epstein files and a jab at CBS News, which he suggested had muted some of Trump’s critics. The comments landed loudly inside the arena and quickly sparked debate online.
What did Donald Trump say about Trevor Noah?
Within hours, Trump responded on his Truth Social platform with a lengthy and aggressive post, branding the awards “virtually unwatchable” and singling out the host. “The Grammy Awards are the worst, virtually unwatchable! CBS is lucky not to have this garbage litter their airwaves any longer,” Trump wrote. He went on to add, “The host, Trevor Noah, whoever he may be, is almost as bad as Jimmy Kimmel at the Low Ratings Academy Awards.”
Trump also denied claims implied in Noah’s joke, writing, “Noah said, incorrectly about me, that Donald Trump and Bill Clinton spent time on Epstein Island. Wrong, I can’t speak for Bill, but I have never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close, and until tonight’s false and defamatory statement, have never been accused of being there.”
Trump warned of possible legal action. “Noah, a total loser, better get his facts straight, and get them straight fast,” he said. “It looks like I’ll be sending my lawyers to sue this poor, pathetic, talentless, dope of an M.C., and suing him for plenty dollars… Get ready Noah, I’m going to have some fun with you!”
The joke that triggered the backlash arrived moments after Billie Eilish accepted the Song of the Year award. Noah quipped, “There you have it, song of the year! Congratulations, Billie Eilish. Wow. That’s a Grammy that every artist wants, almost as much as Trump wants Greenland. Which makes sense because, since Epstein’s gone, he needs a new island to hang out with Bill Clinton. I told you, it’s my last year! What are you going to do about it?”
The moment drew loud laughter in the room and an instant reaction online.
