Just 6 days before the start of T20 World Cup 2026, Pakistan Cricket Board has created a new uproar. The PCB, which had been stalling its decision on participating in the World Cup for almost a week, announced a boycott of the match against India. Citing the orders of the Pakistan government, the board announced that it will participate in the World Cup but will not play the match against India on 15 February. This decision has spoiled the tournament plans and the International Cricket Council (ICC) is unhappy with it. ICC warned of serious consequences and asked PCB to reconsider the decision.

While announcing to play in the T20 World Cup on Sunday 1 February, PCB also announced the boycott of the match against India. Speculations regarding this step of PCB were going on for the last few days. However, till then the ICC had not given any reaction, but after the official announcement, the International Council issued a detailed statement asking the PCB to consider the decision and also said that it will have serious consequences, which will affect the entire game as well as the Pakistani board and its fans.

A statement issued by the ICC late on Sunday night said, “The ICC is still awaiting official communication from the PCB, but the current situation of ‘selective participation’ is difficult to reconcile with the basic premise of a global sporting event. All teams qualifying for such events are expected to compete on equal terms as per the schedule. ICC tournaments are based on the integrity, competitiveness, continuity and fairness of the game and selective participation dilutes the spirit and sanctity of these tournaments. Is.”
