Cancer Cases India: A study has been done by ICMR. Its data has been included in the National Cancer Registry Progam. A shocking information has come in the study. According to this, there are more cases of cancer in women in India than men, but the number of men is more in the deaths of cancer. The study states that cancer cases in women are more than men (51.1%), but the percentage of deaths (45%) is less than them.
There are more cases of breast cancer in women. At the same time, cases of oral and lung cancer are coming in men. However, the number of men is more in the total deaths due to cancer. In such a situation, the question arises that despite the low case in men, why are there more cases of deaths? For this, we have talked to experts.
Dr. Vineet Talwar in Medical Oncology Department at Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute in Delhi It is said that there are more cases of breast cancer in women. This is a serious illness, but if it is investigated in time, the patient’s life can be saved. Survival rate in breast cancer is higher than oral cancer. If you get timely investigation and treatment, then recovery is also easy. This is the reason that cases of cancer are being registered in women, but deaths are less.
Dr. Talwar says that most of the cases in men include oral cancer and lung cancer. Both types of cancer are serious diseases. It has higher death rate. If lung cancer is also in the third stage, then it can be difficult to save the patient’s life. Because there is respiratory problems due to lung cancer, while talking about breast cancer, the breast is removed after surgery. Due to which the possibility of flourishing in other parts is less. In the case of lung cancer, removal of langs is not such a straightforward thing.
Difference in treatment and identity
Dr. Vineet says that Kimuth and Lung Cancer often get late treatment or say treatment is delayed. Due to which the disease reaches critical condition. Early symptoms do not appear properly in mouth and lung cancer and delay in reaching treatment, so the risk of death increases in men. On the other hand, women can identify the symptoms of breast cancer in the initial stage, due to which the investigation is done on time. This is more likely to survive.
Damage habits like tobacco, gutkha, smoking are common in men, which are the main causes of mouth and lung cancer. These cancer usually develop rapidly and increase the risk of death more. Whereas in women, all these habits are less than men. That is why women’s cases are found less in matters of mouth and lung cancer.
Cultural and practical inequalities
- Men indulge in more risky things. Also, their vigilance towards health problems is less. They do not contact the doctor for a long time and due to lack of timely treatment, the situation becomes serious.
- It is true that there are more cases of cancer in women, but their loss is less because their types of cancer such as breasts and cervix are quickly recognized and treatment is possible.
- At the same time, dead cancer is found in the mouth and lungs in men and they are quite fatal. Especially when identity and treatment are delayed.
