16 IAS officers were transferred in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday night. The District Magistrates of six districts were also involved in these. Among the six District Magistrates who have been transferred, the name of Chandra Vijay Singh, District Magistrate of Ayodhya, was also Shamila. In his place, IAS Nikhil Tikaram Funde has been made the new District Magistrate of Ayodhya. IAS Chandra Vijay Singh was posted in Ayodhya for almost a year. Since Ayodhya is currently in the priority of the Yogi government. Along with the construction of Ram temple, more development works are going on there. In such a situation, removing the District Magistrate so soon raises many questions. Sources are also telling that DM Chandra Vijay Singh was removed due to CM Yogi’s displeasure.
In fact, on 7 August 2024, Prabhunath Mishra, a contract clerk of Rajarshi Dasharatha Medical College, Darshan Nagar Ayodhya, consumed poison under suspicious circumstances. In critical condition, he was referred to KGMU, Lucknow, where he died during treatment. When the cause of death was not clear during the post -mortem, Bisra was safe and sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory.
Discrepancy in harassment allegations and DNA investigation
The family accused the then Principal Dr. Gyanendra Kumar of harassing Prabhunath and forced to commit suicide. State Medicoligal Expert Dr. G. Khan feared poison in the report. On the demand of family members, the DNA of pieces of protected organs in Bisra was matched with the DNA of Prabhunath’s mother Saraswati Devi and father Jagdish Mishra. The report of CDFD, Hyderabad was released on 27 March, which was received by family members on 12 April. According to the report, the DNA of the Bisra sample did not match the parents, which led to the possibility of changing the Bisra.
Administrative negligence and Chief Minister’s displeasure
After this shocking revelations, Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM and Health Minister Brijesh Pathak ordered a magisterial inquiry into the matter. Ayodhya District Magistrate Chandra Vijay Singh was removed from the post after negligence in the investigation and tampering of evidence. In the case of Prabhunath Mishra’s suicide, a case has already been registered against the principal of Rajarshi Dasharatha Mandal Hospital, two doctors and 12 unidentified people for provoking suicide and threatening to kill him.
Question on the foundation of justice
This case is not only about the death of a contract worker, but it is going to shake the foundation of faith in the justice system. When the evidence is tampered with and the responsible officials are negligent, the general public gets confidence in the system.
