Lucknow. The Union Budget 2026-27 has opened a new path to self-reliance for the rural women of Uttar Pradesh. In the budget, it has been proposed to establish Self-Help Entrepreneurs (She-Mart) to strengthen women entrepreneurs, which is being considered as a big step towards women empowerment in UP. With this, rural women will no longer be limited to only credit-based livelihood, but will be able to become owners of their own enterprises. This initiative strengthens the vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Uttar Pradesh, under which a target has been set to make three crore women of the state self-reliant.

Women will get organized and reliable market from She-Mart

‘She-Marts’ will be community owned retail outlets, developed through cluster level federations. Its main objective is to provide an organized, reliable and sustainable platform to women entrepreneurs to sell their products. For this, modern and innovative financing means will be used. The Central Government will work with the State Governments to implement this scheme effectively.

Rural economy will get new strength

Taking forward the success of the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme, the budget presents a clear roadmap to move women from debt-based livelihoods to becoming owners of enterprises. Women-led rural enterprises will get support at all three levels, market, capital and network, which is expected to give a new impetus to the rural economy.

Strengthening the women empowerment vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath

This budget further strengthens the vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, under which the biggest campaign is being run to make three crore women self-reliant in Uttar Pradesh in the coming years. Yogi government is continuously working on economically empowering women through self-help groups. In this direction, a comprehensive action plan to prepare one crore ‘Lakhpati Didi’ in a year is being implemented rapidly.

Rural women will become entrepreneurs providing employment through She-Mart

In Uttar Pradesh, women are being linked to self-help groups according to agricultural and non-agricultural livelihood possibilities. Under the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission, women are being provided training, quick capital assistance and market support through door-to-door contact. Through ‘She-Mart’, the products of rural women will get direct market and they will be able to become entrepreneurs providing employment to themselves as well as others.
