2036 Olympics: India is in the race to host the Olympics in the year 2036, it is also the biggest contender for it. Getting the hosting rights could prove to be a turning point for India’s sports infrastructure. In recent times, there has been serious tension in the cricket relations between India and Bangladesh, which has created a wave of concern in the international sports world. This controversy has now become so deep that it may also affect India’s claim to host the 2036 Olympic Games.
Huge uproar over T20 World Cup 2026
The matter started when IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders removed Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from their team. This decision was taken due to political pressure and increasing tension between the two countries. This incident badly affected the relations between the two neighboring countries. Due to this controversy, Bangladesh Cricket Board refused to play its group matches in India in the T20 World Cup 2026, due to which ICC had to pull Bangladesh out of the tournament. Scotland has been included in his place.
This controversy deepened when Pakistan considered boycotting the T20 World Cup in solidarity with Bangladesh, although Pakistan has not yet taken the final decision. No series is already being played between India and Pakistan, and in the last Champions Trophy also, India had refused to play in Pakistan. All this has become a matter of concern for India, as cricket is returning for the first time since 1900 in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and will also be included in the 2032 Brisbane Olympics. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) believes that sports should be kept away from politics. According to the Olympic Charter, sports organizations have to remain free from political influence.
Will hosting of 2036 Olympics be affected?
According to a report by The Guardian, if there is a threat from any country to boycott the 2036 Olympics, then it will be difficult for India to get the hosting of the 2036 Olympics. According to an IOC source, India will have to show strong signs of improving relations with Pakistan and Bangladesh to be considered as an Olympic host. The IOC is including cricket to attract the Indian market, but will not tolerate political interference.
