Hyderabad: Two bike-borne robbers wearing monkey caps shot at a man and looted Rs 6 lakh from him near the SBI branch on Koti’s Bank Street on Saturday, January 31.
The victim identified as Rasheed – a cash courier or depositor, arrived at an ATM near the SBI main office to deposit cash. The robbers allegedly followed him, attacked and shot at him, before snatching and running away with the money.
Rasheed rushed to OGH:
Rasheed sustained an injury to his leg and was shifted to Osmania General Hospital. Doctors have said that he is in a stable condition.
According to police, the attackers came on the scene on a motorcycle, fired at Rasheed and ran away with the cash within minutes of the shooting. The incident triggered panic in the Bank Street area. Sultan Bazaar Police arrived shortly after the incident and secured the scene. CCTV footage from the area is being examined to identify the suspects.
Police registered a case and special teams have been formed to trace the attackers. Patrolling has been stepped up around Koti as a part of heightened security measures.
