The names of the contenders for the men’s singles final of Wimbledon 2026 have been confirmed. There will be a clash between Germany’s Alexander Zverev and Italy’s Yannick Sinner for the men’s singles title in Wimbledon, the most prestigious Grand Slam championship of professional tennis. While Zverev made it to the title match by defeating local hero Arthur Frey of Britain, current champion Yannick Sinner made it to the final for the second consecutive time by defeating the most successful tennis star Novak Djokovic in straight sets 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in a completely one-sided match.

The men’s singles semi-final matches were played on Friday 10 July at the prestigious Center Court of Wimbledon. Like every time, cricket, tennis, football legends and world famous film stars were present in the Royal Box to watch both these semi-finals. Talking only about cricket, apart from great batsmen like Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara, the current Indian Test and ODI captains Shubhman Gill This time too, he was watching the match sitting in the royal box. But this time both the semi-finals proved to be one-sided.

Djokovic’s dream broken again

First, let’s talk about the second match, on which most eyes were on. Novak Djokovic, who had been working hard for his 25th Grand Slam title for the last two and a half years, had once again entered with great expectations. The challenge was not easy for Djokovic, the most successful male player in the history of tennis, because world number-1 ranked Yannick Sinner was again in front of him, overcoming whom it was not easy even for Djokovic. Djokovic, who had already reached the semi-finals after playing a 5.25 hour long match in the quarter-finals, could not repeat his feat this time. Without wasting much time, defending champion Sinner won the match 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.

Zverev’s easy win

In the final, Sinner will now face second seed Zverev, who himself won his semi-final without any special problems. In front of this German star, who had won his first Grand Slam title, the French Open, just a few days ago, was British player Arthur Fry, who had got a wild card entry in this tournament. But despite this, Frey performed strongly and made it to the semi-finals of a Grand Slam for the first time. However, he could not dodge Zverev. The French Open champion won the match 7-6 (7-0), 6-2, 6-4 and reached the Wimbledon final for the first time.
