A family dispute took a painful turn in Modinagar, Ghaziabad. A man who had come to take his wife back from her maternal home, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, attacked his father-in-law with a knife. The seriously injured father-in-law died during treatment, while the wife who came to intervene was also injured. The accused absconded after the incident and the police is searching for him.
Dispute escalated after wife’s refusal, attacked father-in-law several times
According to the police, the deceased has been identified as 60-year-old Anar Singh, who lived with his family in his house on Fafrana Road in Modinagar. On Thursday night, his son-in-law Sandeep reached his in-laws’ house to pick up his wife Monica. It was told that there was a dispute between the husband and wife three days ago, in which Sandeep slapped Monica. After this Monica came to her parents’ home.
On Thursday night, Sandeep asked him to go back, but he refused. An argument started between the two on this matter. Hearing the noise, Anar Singh reached the spot and asked the son-in-law to leave the house. It is alleged that during this time, Sandeep took out a knife from his waist and attacked him several times.
When the daughter went to save her, she also got injured.
During the attack, Monica came forward to save her father, but the accused pushed her and injured her. Other family members reached the spot and took Anar Singh to the hospital, where he died during treatment on Friday morning.
According to family members, Anar Singh was a retired employee from Modi factory. He is survived by three daughters and one son. Son Dipanshu told the police that his sister had a love marriage with Sandeep about 15 years ago, but for the last one year there was a continuous dispute going on between the two and the accused often beat his sister.
Police searching for the accused, claim to arrest him soon
Acting ACP Sunil Kumar said that the police had received information about the incident at around 11 pm on Thursday night. Investigation revealed that Monica was also injured in the attack, although her condition is now out of danger. Police have registered a case of murder and formed special teams to search for the accused. Officials say that efforts are being made to arrest the accused and he will soon be taken into custody. There is an atmosphere of panic in the area after the incident, while the police is investigating all aspects of the case.
