Delhi: 55-Year-Old Man, Wife Found Dead at Home; Note Reveals Financial Stress

Man and wife were found dead at their residence in northeast Delhi’s Jyoti Nagar on January 29, 2026. Police suspect this as a suicide case as the note found at the spot signaled that the couple was dealing with financial stress.

Upon returning home, they discovered their parents deceased and promptly alerted the police. Police received a call at approximately 12:05 am Friday reporting a suspected suicide in West Jyoti Nagar. Officers arrived to find the couple’s bodies in separate rooms.A senior officer stated that no forced entry or foul play was immediately apparent. The crime team and forensic experts examined the scene, collecting and documenting evidence. Deceased couple bodies were sent to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital for post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death, according to TOI.

Police recovered an alleged suicide note during the preliminary inquiry, in which the couple mentioned struggling with debt and financial instability. As part of the investigation, officers are verifying the contents of a note. Police reported the couple had been facing financial difficulties since their small factory closed. Their children engaged in petty work to supplement the family income, but they continued to struggle. Proceedings under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) have been initiated.

 

Police are continuing their investigation, recording statements from family members and neighbors to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
