SECL’s big campaign regarding Ground Water, officers got special training. Secl Ground Water Regulation Control Workshop Bilaspur Water Conservation

SECL Workshop: A two-day training-cum-workshop on the topic ‘Ground Water Regulation and Control’ was concluded at SECL Headquarters in Bilaspur. Experts trained the officials on ground water conservation, rain water harvesting and effective measures for water management.

With an aim to tackle future water crisis and promote responsible use of natural resources, South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) organized a two-day training-cum-workshop on the topic “Ground Water Regulation and Control” at its headquarters in Bilaspur. Organized in collaboration with Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) and Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), the officers and employees were given detailed information on ground water conservation, water management and regulatory provisions.

Water conservation is the responsibility of the future, said the Executive Director of CIL.

C. Jayadev, Executive Director (Environment), Coal India Limited (CIL) attended the closing ceremony of the workshop as the chief guest. He said that water conservation is not only an environmental issue but also our responsibility towards the coming generations. He said that balanced use of natural resources and scientific management of water during mining activities is the biggest need of the hour. Such training programs are an important medium to expose officers and employees to new rules and better practices.

Brainstorming took place on important topics related to ground water management

Officers and employees from various areas and units of SECL participated in this two-day long training. Experts shared detailed information on ground water conservation, rain water harvesting, ground water recharge, effective use of water in industries and regulatory provisions related to ground water.

Regional Director of CGWA, Dr. Prabir K. participated in the workshop. Naik, Scientists Aim Kumar, H.V. Sophia K. And CGWB Regional Director Dr. Bhushan R. Lamsoge, Scientist Siddhant Kumar Sahu, Sayli Umesh Temburne and Pramod Sahu shared their experiences as expert speakers.

Concluded with question answer session and certificate distribution

In the question and answer session organized during the workshop, the participants put forward questions related to ground water management, necessary permissions and water conservation before the experts, to which practical solutions were given.

At the concluding ceremony, the experts laid special emphasis on linking water conservation with public participation, promoting rain water harvesting and judicious use of available water resources. In the end C. Jaidev distributed certificates to all the participants. This training program of SECL is being considered as an important initiative towards increasing awareness towards ground water conservation and strengthening responsible and sustainable mining activities.
