Chhattisgarh government is now going to take the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to monitor rural roads. AI based inspection system will be implemented in the state to improve the quality of roads built under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and ensure timely repairs. Deputy Chief Minister and Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Vijay Sharma has instructed the officials to implement this new system soon.

Roads will be inspected every month through video

It was informed in the review meeting that now video based inspection of every PMGSY road in the state will be done every month. For this, a special AI based app and dashboard has been prepared. This technology will automatically identify potholes, cracks and other damages present on the road and analyze their actual condition. This will make the inspection process more transparent and the administration will be able to get accurate information about the condition of the road.

The worst roads will be repaired first

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma said that based on the data obtained from AI, the most damaged roads will be identified on priority. After this, a budget and action plan will be prepared for their maintenance and repair and work will be started immediately. The government believes that this will lead to better utilization of government resources, increase the life of roads and make transportation in rural areas safer and easier than before.

Pilot project will start from tomorrow

To implement the new system, the state government will start AI based inspection as a pilot project on one road in every district. After analyzing these initial results, this system will be implemented in the entire state.

Additional Chief Secretary of Panchayat and Rural Development Department Richa Sharma, Secretary Bhim Singh, Secretary Dharmesh Sahu, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Director Taran Prakash Sinha, NRLM Director Ashwani Dewangan and many senior officials of the department were present in the review meeting. The state government believes that with the use of modern technology, monitoring of the rural road network will be more effective and better road facilities can be provided to the people on time.
