Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s debut in international cricket was eagerly awaited. Not only in India, but the eyes of cricket experts and fans all over the world are fixed on this 15 year old young sensation. Vaibhav Suryavanshi finally made his debut in the T20 series on the England tour. But the start of this new star of Indian cricket has not been good and he has failed in 3 consecutive innings. There has been mixed reaction on this performance so far but it seems that head coach Gautam Gambhir is unhappy with it and hence after the team’s defeat in the fourth T20 match, he was seen taking Vaibhav’s class.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who was selected in the team for the first time after his explosive performance in IPL 2026, was not given a chance in the first 3 T20 matches of the Ireland-England tour. A lot of questions were being raised regarding this and the team management was being criticized because we could not even win. Eventually Vaibhav made his debut but in 3 consecutive matches his scores were only 14, 13 and 15 runs. He has shown some glimpses of explosive batting in IPL but the big innings has not come yet.
Gambhir took Vaibhav’s class?
While some experts are refusing to criticize Vaibhav’s debut considering it normal, some believe that this young opener has been given a chance in the team in a hurry. But more important than these thoughts is the thinking of head coach Gambhir and the team management and from the scene seen after the fourth T20 in Bristol, it seems that the team is not at all happy with Vaibhav’s performance. A report by independent journalist Ankan Kar has claimed that after the match was over, Gambhir talked to Vaibhav for about 10-15 minutes on the field itself.
After losing the match, a very animated conversation is taking place between Gautam Gambhir, Sitanshu Kotak, and Shreyas Iyer.

According to this report, after the end of the match, when the presentation ceremony was going on, a conversation was going on between Gambhir and Vaibhav in the dugout of the Indian team. It seemed less like a conversation and more like Guru Gambhir’s class. As per his name, the head coach was quite serious in presenting his words to Vaibhav, where it was clear from his face and expressions that he was not at all satisfied with the young opener’s batting, rather he was upset with him.
Iyer also got the knowledge of Guru Gambhir
Coach Gambhir had a long discussion not only with Vaibhav but also with team captain Shreyas Iyer. Before Vaibhav’s class, Gambhir and batting coach Sitanshu Kotak were talking to Iyer in the same dugout. This discussion also seemed equally sharp and in this too, Coach Gambhir’s attitude was quite sharp. It was clear that Gambhir is unhappy with Iyer’s captaincy and the overall performance of the team and he has expressed this displeasure openly.
