At the same time, houses worth Rs 40-80 lakh were 1,57,741 units, which were 1,74,572 units in March 2024. The number of houses in the category of Rs 80 lakh to Rs 1.5 crore increased marginally to 1,76,130 units from 1,75,293 units.

Increased demand for expensive houses

At the same time, the number of vacant houses worth more than Rs 1.5 crore increased from 91,125 units to 1,13,193 units. Anarock Chairman Anuj Puri said, luxury housing has been a top performance section in the last two to three years… The main reason for this is considered important supply in the last one to two years.

He said that affordable housing has suffered the most damage due to global epidemic, as sales and new offers have decreased in this section in the top seven cities. Puri said that in the last five years, along with total sales, the share of affordable or cheap houses is decreasing in the total offer.

The sales of homes in the top seven cities declined by 28 percent to 93,280 units in January-March, 2025, while the figure was more than 1.30 lakh units in the same period of a year ago. In January-March, 2025, 1,00,020 units were offered in the top seven cities, which is 10 percent less than 1,10,865 units of the same period a year ago.
