Now Americans will be able to take the taste of Indian Shrimp, the supply was stopped for the past several days

India’s sea food exporters are preparing to send a shrimp 35,000-40,000 tonnes to the US. Industry officials said on Monday that the order remains stable after US President Donald Trump banned the plan to impose 26 percent counter -duty.

Indian General Secretary of Indian Earth Exports Association K. N. Raghavan said, now we have got a lot of relief, because we have reached equal to other US exporters. Now preparations will be made to send the stopped exports.

2000 containers stopped since the tariff

He said that about 2,000 containers of the pending shrimp are now being prepared for exports due to the announcement of the US fee and then the ban on them. Under temporary relief, the basic fee of 10 percent will be applicable to all countries except China. China is a 145 percent fee.

The US currently levies an effective customs of 17.7 percent on Indian shrimp exports, including 5.7 percent retaliation duty and 1.8 percent anti -dumping fee.

Sources in the industry said that Indian exporters usually borne the fee cost under the supply fee-paying system, which means that pre-contracted exports would have to face significant additional expenses under high fees.

A representative of the industry said, (at additional fees) 90 days of restriction gives exporters an opportunity to fulfill these orders without additional cost.

Demand did not decrease even after tariff

According to the Indian Sexy Exports Exports Association, there has been no decrease in order from the US, which remains the largest shrimp market in India in terms of quantity and value. India exported a shrimp of US $ 2.7 billion to the US in FY 2023-24.

Raghavan urged the government to focus on ensuring equal opportunities for the country’s seafood exports during the upcoming trade talks before the end of the fee stop.
