Wives’ Affairs, 12 Husbands Dead, Any Solution?

A disturbing trend has emerged across Uttar Pradesh and other parts of India: an increasing number of husbands being murdered by their wives, often linked to extramarital affairs.

According to reports, 12 men have been killed by their spouses in Uttar Pradesh alone in the last 34 days, with many cases allegedly involving illicit relationships.

One of the most talked-about incidents is the murder of Saurabh Rajput, a former Merchant Navy officer from Meerut, who was killed by his wife and her lover. In Auraiya, a newlywed was killed just 15 days after marriage when his wife and her paramour reportedly hired a contract killer to murder him.

Similarly, in Lucknow, a man was stabbed to death by his wife during a domestic dispute, while in Jhansi, a man was found hanging at his in-laws’ house, having allegedly faced threats and harassment.

To address such tragedies, long-term solutions are necessary. Life skills and basic counseling are already part of school curriculums, but this should be extended to college education as well.

Young adults need to be taught how to manage relationships, handle conflicts, and understand that divorce is a legal option. A far better alternative than resorting to violence.

Promoting emotional maturity and awareness about peaceful resolutions can help prevent unnecessary loss of life and reduce the risk of such incidents.
