New Delhi: Hyundai’s premium brand, Genesis, has revealed its first-ever off-road concept vehicle, called the X Skorpio Concept. This is a prototype designed for extreme off-road use and high-speed desert-style driving rather than everyday road conditions.
Genesis has made no announcement on a production version of the X Skorpio Concept. However, chief creative officer Luc Donckerwolke, referring to earlier concept models, said, “Each concept is a signal of what’s possible, a glimpse into the DNA of Genesis’ future.”

In terms of design, the X Skorpio concept takes clear inspiration from the Genesis X Gran Berlinetta concept that was shown in 2023. The wide fenders and bulky bumpers give the impression of an external frame added over a low-slung sports car design. At the front, the concept features V-shaped LED daytime running lights that connect to Genesis’ familiar ‘Two-Line’ lighting signature extending towards the front fenders. Below these DRLs are four round LED headlamp units. The bonnet has air vents to help cool electrical components, while a roof-mounted scoop supports cabin cooling.

From the side, the vehicle gets flush-style door handles along with visible exhaust outlets. It rides on 18-inch beadlock wheels paired with custom-made 40-inch off-road tyres, giving it a clear rally and desert racer appearance. At the rear, the ‘Two-Line’ LED tail-lamps are combined with illuminated Genesis branding, set against a silver-finished grille that contrasts with the rest of the body.

Inside, Genesis has focused on keeping a premium feel despite the off-road purpose. The cabin uses soft-touch materials and avoids the bare, utilitarian layout usually seen in Trophy Trucks. The driver’s display is mounted directly on the three-spoke steering wheel. There is also a sliding touchscreen on the dashboard that can be adjusted depending on whether the vehicle is being driven solo or with a co-driver. The concept includes advanced communication systems as well.
For safety, the X Skorpio concept comes with an integrated roll cage, reinforced structural parts and a four-point harness system for occupants.

The Genesis X Skorpio concept is powered by a V8 engine that produces 1,100hp and 1,152Nm of torque. According to Genesis, this output is similar to what is seen in Trophy Trucks used in desert racing events. The brand says the concept is built for fast off-road driving and recreational use, including situations where the vehicle may go airborne over jumps. Braking is handled by Brembo Motorsport brakes, and the concept also offers very high ground clearance along with large approach, departure and break-over angles, which are important for serious off-road driving.
