A 27 year old software engineer died tragically on Friday night in Sector-150, Noida. Yuvraj used to work in a company in Gurugram. He was coming home from office to Greater Noida on Friday night.

There was dense fog and due to very low visibility, Yuvraj’s car went out of control at a turn. When Yuvraj reached the T-point near ATS Le-Gradios in Sector-150, Noida, the car went out of control. The car broke the wall of the drain and fell into the premises of an under-construction mall, which was filled with water. After the car fell into the water, Yuvraj tried hard to get out, but he could not succeed. Ultimately Yuvraj died due to drowning in water.

  1. Yuvraj Mehta’s car, coming from Gurugram to his home in Noida, falls into the under-construction basement of a roadside mall near Sector 150 of Greater Noida at 12 o’clock in the night due to dense fog.
  2. Yuvraj Mehta informs this on his father’s mobile phone after 10 minutes at around 12.20.
  3. The father loses his senses. The upset father immediately dials 112 for help. Information is recorded at 12.25 minutes.
  4. After this, rescue efforts begin, but at a very slow pace. The call goes to the person in charge of the control room after about 20 minutes at 12.41.
  5. 50 minutes after the incident, police force and fire brigade reach the spot at 12.50. According to eyewitnesses, Yuvraj was pleading for help by lighting a mobile torch above his car which was submerged in water.
  6. The rescue team fails to get Yuvraj out immediately. Due to fear and lack of resources, help does not reach Yuvraj. The helpless father present at the spot keeps watching his son drowning.
  7. The SDRF team also arrives at 1:15 pm, but is unable to enter the water-filled basement to help. At 1.45 minutes, Yuvraj drowns in water along with the car.
  8. About two hours after the incident, the NDRF team starts the search at 2 o’clock. At four in the morning Yuvraj is taken out and taken to the hospital. By then it is too late.

It is being told that the mall in which Yuvraj died due to drowning in the pit was taken over by the Noida Authority. But despite this, no safety wall was built around the plot. Security measures were not taken. Yuvraj’s father Rajkumar Mehta says that despite it being a dangerous turn, the police had not barricaded it nor had reflectors installed. This is why this accident happened.
