‘Once I go to Dubai, I’ll have a big conversation with him’ – Rinku Singh Drops Big Hint Ahead Of 2025 Asia Cup

Team India’s dynamic batter Rinku Singh spoke about his working relationship with head coach Gautam Gambhir ahead of the 2025 Asia Cup.

The left-hander, recently named in India’s squad, has been in excellent form for the Meerut Mavericks in the ongoing UPT20 League.

Rinku Singh’s promising start to international cricket had slowed down, and a lackluster 2025 IPL season didn’t help his momentum. Since the 2024 T20 World Cup, he has played 18 T20Is but managed to score double figures in only five innings.

, captain of Meerut Mavericks, has scored 332 runs in 10 UPT20 matches at a 66.40 average and 179.46 strike rate, boosting his Asia Cup hopes. He joked about still needing to talk to Gambhir about his selection.

“Not yet. Once I go to Dubai, I’ll have a big conversation with him (laughs). Till now, we haven’t spoken about anything. I’m just very excited to meet him and learn from him. His support in my career has been immense,” Rinku Singh said in an interview with the Times of India.

He further added:

“GG sir has always backed me and given me confidence. From our first meeting at KKR to training sessions, he shares his knowledge and motivates players. I’ve enjoyed working with him and am excited to play under his coaching again. It’s special to share the dressing room with a legend like him.”

“I Was Nervous About My Asia Cup Selection”- Rinku Singh

After scoring just 374 runs over the past two IPL seasons, Rinku Singh was slipping down India’s national team hierarchy. The middle order was already crowded, with all-rounders like Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, and Shivam Dube performing consistently and adding balance to the side.

Rinku Singh revealed that his recent outstanding performances in the UPT20 League were motivated by his selection in the main Asia Cup squad.
