Most people rely on cardio for weight loss. But is this really weight loss Is it effective? Whenever we think of weight loss through sweating, the thought of cardio comes to our mind. Coach Dan Go, who has about 20 years of experience in fitness coaching, says that this is not the right method for weight loss. He shared a video on his Insta in which he was seen telling that losing weight through cardio is a bad strategy. Actually, many methods of weight loss are being adopted in this modern world, one of which is cardio. Seeing videos or reels on social media, people believe that weight can be easily reduced through cardio.
However, Dan Go does not believe so. He says that cardio improves the health of our heart. Apart from this, it also improves the health of the lungs because it increases the level of oxygen in the body. Let us tell you why cardio is not effective in weight loss?
Obesity became a problem. Obesity
Obesity is now becoming a disease in India. WHO considers it as a chronic disease. In this condition, a lot of fat gets accumulated in the body. Because of this, the risk of cancer, diabetes and serious heart related diseases increases. If someone’s BMI i.e. body mass index is above 25 then he comes in the category of overweight. But if someone’s BMI is more than 30 then it indicates obesity. According to WHO, about 2.5 billion adults in the world are overweight and about 89 million people are affected by obesity.
Lose weight with cardio. Cardio for Weight Loss
According to Expert Dan, people think that doing cardio burns more calories whereas it is not so. Our body gets used to cardio but it burns less calories.
Experts say that if you do more cardio then due to this you also feel more hungry. The body gets tired after running for a long time on the treadmill in the gym. In such a situation, one feels even more hungry.
Very few people know that due to excessive cardio, muscles decrease and the fear of getting injured also increases. In the long term one has to suffer huge consequences for this. Dan says that even if someone loses weight through cardio for a long time, it is not easy to maintain it in the future. For this, the same cardio activity as before has to be done daily. In such a situation, the strength or energy of the body gets affected.
Fitness coach Dan says that it is not easy to determine from cardio alone whether the weight lost is due to fat loss or muscle loss. According to Dan, cardio in itself is not a bad physical activity but the real thing is your motivation. According to him, activities like running, swimming and cycling are generally excellent exercises, but in reality, it is better to consume 100 calories less than burning 100 calories on the treadmill. Because it is easier to do so.
Lose weight with this exercise
According to Dr. Dan, weight lifting and walking are the best activities for weight loss. Because by doing these the body can get in shape. Actually, by lifting weights our muscles build and in this way you are able to maintain healthy weight. Doing this provides benefits like healthy metabolism, improvement in insulin sensitivity and burning of fat from the body.
On the other hand, walking may have a delayed effect but it burns fat without harming our joints. Appetite increases but muscles do not decrease rapidly. If the activities of exercise and daily walk in the gym are done properly then the body is able to remain active.
