Mahindra Scorpio Pik Up spotted testing, based on Scorpio N platform

New Delhi: Mahindra showcased its Global Pik Up concept a few years ago to give an idea of its upcoming pickup truck for international markets. Since then, the company has been working on the production version of this model. The pickup is expected to be based on the Scorpio N platform, which itself is undergoing a facelift and is currently being tested.

Recent spy shots shared by Vroomvroom MJ show the Mahindra Scorpio Pik Up in much clearer detail than before. These images reveal several exterior and interior elements, offering a better understanding of what the vehicle might look like if Mahindra decides to launch it in India.

Expected details from spy shots

The test vehicle seen in the images is a double-cab pickup with four doors. A single-cab, two-door version is also reportedly under testing. The front LED headlights and rear tail lamps are not final yet, as the test models are using temporary lighting units. However, the alloy wheels appear to be production-ready. These are 18-inch wheels fitted with 255-section tyres, similar to those used on the Scorpio N SUV. The tyre setup suggests a focus on off-road capability along with a tough appearance. The pickup is also seen with disc brakes on all four wheels, which is a feature missing on some rival pickup trucks currently sold in India.

Inside the cabin, the Scorpio Pik Up shows several notable updates. One of the noticeable feature is a single-pane sunroof, which is rare in this segment. The dashboard layout looks similar to the upcoming Scorpio N facelift and includes a larger, free-standing infotainment screen. Other features visible in the test vehicle include dual-zone climate control, an electronic parking brake, ventilated front seats and what appears to be a digital instrument cluster.

Additional comfort features seen in the spy shots include front and rear armrests, rear air-conditioning vents and an auto-dimming inside rear-view mirror. Many of these features are not available on pickup trucks like the Toyota Hilux or Isuzu V-Cross sold in India.

Expected engine and powertrain

Under the bonnet, the Scorpio Pik Up is expected to use the same 2.2-litre diesel engine found in the Scorpio N. This engine produces up to 450 Nm of torque. It is likely to be offered with a manual gearbox and a four-wheel-drive system. An automatic transmission option may also be introduced.
