New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki is inching closer to a big moment in its electric journey. After years of building hybrids and testing EV waters, the country’s largest carmaker is now preparing to put a price tag on its first full-electric SUV.
In a conversation with News9live, Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said that pricing for the e Vitara will be announced in a matter of weeks, not months. That timeline suggests buyers will not have to wait long.
Maruti e-Vitara price announcement expected soon
The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara was unveiled in December 2025 as the company’s first electric SUV for India. The model is expected to launch in February 2026, with prices likely to fall between ₹15 lakh and ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom).
For many Indian buyers, this range places the e-Vitara directly in the middle of the fast-growing mass-market EV SUV space.
Battery, range, and performance details
Maruti plans to offer the e-Vitara with two battery options.
Key expected specifications include:
- 49 kWh battery with front-wheel drive
- 61.1 kWh battery with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive
- Power output of 142 bhp for the smaller battery
- Power output of 172 bhp for the larger battery
- Torque figure of 192.5 Nm
- ARAI-certified range of up to 543 km on the larger battery
Features and rivals
The e-Vitara is expected to come with:
- Advanced driver assistance systems

It will go up against models such as the Hyundai Creta EV and MG ZS EV.
For enthusiasts, the bigger story is Maruti finally stepping into the pure EV space. Pricing will decide everything. And that announcement now seems just around the corner.
