In Raichur, a father-in-law killed his 5-month pregnant daughter-in-law by slitting her throat with a knife due to a family dispute. 24-year-old Rekha died on the spot. The police have arrested the accused.
Raichur: If just 4 more months had passed, the child’s laughter would have been echoing in that house. She was very happy thinking ‘I am going to be a mother’. But today neither he nor his child is there. Even before the birth of his descendant Chirag, the father-in-law strangled his pregnant daughter-in-law to death, that too when no one was in the house. To save her life and that of her child, before she died, she came out of the house to the platform in agony and died there. The entire village is expressing regret over his death. This tragic incident took place in Chikkahanagi village of Sirwar taluk of Raichur district.
Father-in-law killed him by slitting his throat!
Due to a family feud, the father-in-law brutally murdered his pregnant daughter-in-law by slitting her throat. The deceased has been identified as Rekha Nagaraj (24) and was five months pregnant. The accused father-in-law Siddappa (50), taking advantage of the absence of anyone in the house, attacked the daughter-in-law with a knife on her throat and then stabbed her in the face and ran away, who was later arrested. Seriously injured Rekha came out of the house yearning to save her life. After this, she fell on the platform in front of the house and died on the spot. Seeing this scene the villagers had tears in their eyes.
Rekha and Nagraj got married about three years ago. Initially the in-laws took good care of Rekha. But after six months, there were frequent fights with mother-in-law and father-in-law regarding farm and household work. For this reason, Rekha and Nagraj moved from Chikkahanagi to Hirehanagi and started living separately.
Those living separately were invited back home
When Rekha found out that she was pregnant, her parents-in-law said, “Why a separate house? Come to our house” and brought them back to Chikkahangi. But recently the fights between daughter-in-law and father-in-law regarding farm and household work had increased again. Yesterday also there was a fight over a small matter, which ended so badly.
Without even caring that she was 5 months pregnant, father-in-law Siddappa attacked the daughter-in-law with a knife and slit her throat. As soon as the news was received, Rekha’s parents reached the spot. He was in a bad state and crying. A case has been registered at Kavitala police station in connection with this incident. The family members have filed a complaint against deceased Rekha’s father-in-law Siddappa, husband Nagaraj and mother-in-law Basamma. At present, the police have taken accused Siddappa into custody and are interrogating him. DSP Chandrashekhar said that the real reason for the murder will be revealed after investigation.
This incident took place in the area of Kavitala police station. The police inspected the spot and intensified the investigation. This inhuman act against a pregnant woman is being strongly condemned across the district.
