Kannada actor Mayur Patel accused of drunk driving
According to police officials, Mayur Patel was allegedly driving a Fortuner SUV when he rammed into a car that was stationary at a traffic signal. The impact triggered a chain reaction, resulting in a multi-car collision that damaged at least four other vehicles. Among those affected were two Swift Dzire cars and one government vehicle, adding to the seriousness of the mishap.
Eyewitness accounts and preliminary police findings suggest that the rear-end collision caused chaos at the busy junction. Following the crash, the actor allegedly got into an argument with the owner of one of the damaged vehicles, further escalating the situation at the spot. Local residents alerted the authorities, after which personnel from the Halasuru Traffic Police arrived to manage the scene and assess the situation.
Police officials stated that Mayur Patel was subjected to a drink-and-drive test on the spot. The test reportedly returned positive, indicating alcohol consumption. Based on complaints lodged by the affected drivers, the police seized the Fortuner SUV involved in the accident and registered a case at the Halasuru Traffic Police Station. An investigation is currently underway to determine the exact sequence of events and whether additional charges may apply.
Who is Mayur Patel?
Mayur Patel has been a familiar face in the Kannada film industry since the early 2000s. He made his acting debut with the 2003 film Mani. While the film did not perform well commercially, it earned him recognition for his performance and helped him carve a space in the industry.
