
The elderly died after falling a wall of a house in Chandra Vihar area of Mandavali due to strong thunderstorm in Delhi on Friday evening. While one person has been injured. The accident occurred when the wall being built on the sixth floor suddenly fell. Two people, including the elderly, were engulfed in its grip. In this accident, the elderly died on the spot. At the same time, the injured person is undergoing treatment.
The Delhi government has formed a quick response team (QRT) to remove the trees falling on the roads during the rainy season to solve power supply and traffic related problems.
Thunderstorm caused havoc
Let us know that due to the strong thunderstorm in Delhi, till 10 pm on Friday night, there were information about falling 18 trees and 5 houses collapsing. The Fire Department says that there is no information about any kind of loss of life in it.
Formation of QRT
The order issued by the Home Department states that QRT will include Revenue Department, Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD), New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), Forest Department and Power Distribution Companies and they will work in three shifts.
Electrical supply hurdle
During the rainy season, the falling branches of trees often obstruct the power supply and also cause traffic jams. The decision to set up a Quick Response Team was recently taken in the meeting of the Coordination Committee chaired by the Chief Secretary. These teams will work under the supervision of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) in each of the 11 revenue districts of Delhi.
Many flights divert
Due to bad weather in Delhi, the route of more than 15 flights at Indira Gandhi International Airport was changed on Friday evening. Airport Director Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) said in a post on X at 7:15 pm that some flights have been affected at the airport due to bad weather in Delhi. Passengers are advised to contact their airline for latest information about flights. Aviation company IndiGo said that dust storm is going on in Delhi and Jaipur, which is affecting the movement of aircraft, so air traffic can cause obstruction.
