Volkswagen India introduced the Tiguan R Line, its flagship SUV for the Indian market, in April 2025. Within a short span of three months, some dealerships began offering discounts up to Rs 3 lakh on this model.
This move is part of a broader discount strategy that includes other models like the Taigun SUV and Virtus sedan under the INDIA 2.0 initiative.
Discounts on VW Tiguan
The Tiguan R Line, priced at Rs 49 lakh (ex-showroom), is imported as a completely built unit (CBU) and available in a single, fully-loaded trim. Despite its premium positioning, it faces competition from larger seven-seater SUVs like the Skoda Kodiaq. To boost sales, Volkswagen dealers are providing cash discounts up to Rs 2 lakh along with benefits worth Rs 1 lakh.
Volkswagen’s strategy also includes introducing new models like the Golf GTI, which has been well-received by enthusiasts. However, the Tiguan R Line requires additional incentives to attract buyers in India. The company is considering launching the Tayron, a seven-seater version of the Tiguan, which has been spotted testing in India.
INDIA 2.0 Vehicles: Taigun and Virtus Discounts
The Taigun SUV offers significant discounts within the INDIA 2.0 range. The Topline 1.0L AT variant receives up to Rs 2.5 lakh off, while GT 1.5L MT and DSG variants have discounts reaching Rs 2.44 lakh. Other trims like GT Line and Highline offer reductions of up to Rs 1.3 lakh and Rs 1.12 lakh respectively.
Similarly, the Virtus sedan provides attractive savings for potential buyers. The highest discount of Rs 2 lakh is available on the Virtus 1.0L Topline AT variant, followed by up to Rs 1.1 lakh on the GT Plus Sport trim. These offers vary across dealerships and depend on availability and other factors.
Prospective buyers should visit their nearest Volkswagen dealership to get precise discount details as these can differ based on location and stock levels.
