An FIR has been lodged in Bengaluru against Ranveer Singh for copying the divine scene from Rishabh Shetty’s film ‘Kantara Chapter 1’.

After the success of the blockbuster film ‘Dhurandhar’, actor Ranveer Singh has been embroiled in controversy after copying the sacred chaundi scene from ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ on November 28. An FIR was lodged against him under sections 196, 299 and 302 of the Indian Justice Code by lawyer Prashant Methal at High Grounds police station in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

After the success of the film ‘Dhurandhar’, released in December 2025, which earned the title of India’s highest-grossing Hindi film by earning more than Rs 1000 crore in just three weeks, Ranveer Singh is once again embroiled in controversy.

At the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) held in Goa on November 28, the film’s lead actor Rishabh Shetty faced criticism after he copied a scene from ‘Kantara Chapter 1’, especially the iconic Chaundi sequence of the sacred procession dedicated to Goddess Chaundi.

FIR registered against Ranveer Singh in Bengaluru for copying Kantara

According to NDTV report, an FIR has been registered against Ranveer at High Grounds Police Station in Bengaluru. The complaint has been filed by Bengaluru lawyer Prashant Methal (46). The case has been registered under sections 196, 299 and 302 of the Indian Justice Code (BNS).
