Three minors gang-raped a 6-year-old girl in Delhi. These boys, aged 10, 13 and 14, were known to the girl. Police have arrested two accused, while the third is absconding along with his family. Investigation of the matter is ongoing.
New Delhi: A 6-year-old girl was brutally raped by her dead brother’s minor friends, this horrific incident took place in the country’s capital Delhi. This despicable act took place on January 18. Police said on Tuesday that three boys gang-raped a six-year-old girl in Bhajanpura in north-east Delhi. The shocking thing is that all the accused are 10, 13 and 14 years old. Two accused have been arrested, while the third accused and his family are absconding.
Police said that the six-year-old girl who was raped lives with her parents and siblings and her condition is improving. On January 18, around 7 pm, the girl came home bleeding profusely. When initially asked, he said that he was bleeding due to the fall. But after coming home she became unconscious. The girl’s mother said, “I woke him up by pouring water on his face and asked him what happened, but he said that he had fallen again. A 13-year-old boy living in our neighborhood also told the same story.”
When the family members asked repeatedly, the girl revealed the truth. The girl told that a 13-year-old boy from the neighborhood and two other boys, who were acquaintances of the family, took her on the pretext of getting food. The girl’s mother said, “My husband had bought chocolates and left her at the gate of our street. There the boys caught her, lured her with chow mein (a type of noodles) and took her to a nearby empty two-storey building. Then they tied her hands and mouth and molested her.”
A police officer confirmed that the girl had given this information during interrogation. It is learned that after the incident the boys had also threatened her to remain silent. Here, as soon as the family came to know, they lodged a complaint at Jafrabad Police Station. After this the girl was treated at Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital. The medical report states that she is unable to walk and is bleeding profusely. Also, the girl has been advised to undergo HIV and other tests.
The girl’s mother told that she is in bed now. She feels pain when she sits and starts bleeding if she walks or plays. Police have transferred the case to Bhajanpura police station. Investigating officers visited the spot and found blood stains there, after which the forensic team collected evidence. On January 19, the police caught the accused aged 10 and 13 and presented them before the Child Welfare Committee. The 14-year-old suspect and his family are still missing. According to the girl’s mother, the three boys were friends of her 14-year-old son, who died last year.
The girl’s father, a rickshaw puller, has demanded that the accused be tried as adults. He said, “If they knew what they were doing, they should get severe punishment. They should not be let off.” The girl’s father also said that he has not returned to work since the incident, fearing for his daughters’ safety. There is a lot of anger among the local people regarding this matter. On Monday, right-wing groups protested by blocking roads demanding the immediate arrest of the third accused.
