Despite trailing, Djokovic enters Australian Open semis after Musetti injury

New Delhi: Novak Djokovic entered the Australian Open semi-finals despite trailing by two sets as Lorenzo Musetti retired with an injury in Melbourne on Wednesday.

Fifth seed Musetti led 6-4 6-3 1-3 but quit, handing the 10-time champion a lucky escape at Melbourne Park in his bid for a record 25 Grand Slam titles.

Swiatek calls for more privacy

Meanwhile, world number two Iga Swiatek became the latest player to demand greater privacy off the courts after cameras captured Coco Gauff smashing her racquet after her quarter-final defeat.

Gauff lost only in 59 minutes to Coco Gauff and then went on a meltdown behind a wall near the match call area deep inside the stadium.

But the third seed wasn’t aware that cameras recorded her every move and it was beamed to viewers across the globe, making her unhappy and focing her to comment that there was no privacy anywhere save the locker room.

“The question is, are we tennis players or are we animals in the zoo, where they are observed even when they poop?” Swiatek asked after her 7-5 6-1 loss to Rybakina in the quarter-finals on Wednesday.

“Okay, that was exaggerating obviously, but it would be nice to have some privacy. It would be nice also to have your own process and not always be observed.”

Amanda Anisimova, who lost to Jessica Pegula in the last eight stage said she kept her head down until she reached the locker room as players did not have much privacy at Melbourne Park.

“There are good moments obviously that people see and that’s fun. Then, when you lose, there are probably not-so-good moments,” Anisimova said.

“The video of Coco that was posted, it’s tough, because she didn’t have a say in that.”
