Video of cricket match goes viral.
A picture has emerged from Kashi, the city of religion and culture, which shows the wonderful confluence of modern sports and ancient tradition. On Tuesday, ‘Sanskrit Batuk Cricket Competition’ was organized on the grounds of Jayanarayan Inter College, Ramapura. Here the players’ attire was not jersey but traditional dhoti and kurta, and the commentary was echoing in pure Sanskrit rather than English.
The main attraction of this competition organized on the occasion of the 82nd foundation day of Shastrarth Mahavidyalaya was its commentary. When the commentator said – Ek: Tejaswi pullshot, kandukam akaash margen gachchan, seemarekhaat: bahirgaman. Shad Dhavananka: Labdha:” (A brilliant pull shot and the ball in the air outside the boundary line, six runs), then the entire ground erupted in applause. This unique Sanskrit commentary has also been praised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program.
Players entered the field wearing Tika-Tripund
Four major teams participated in this tournament. In which, Shastrarth Mahavidyalaya, International Chandramauli Charitable Trust, Swami Vedanti Ved Vidyapeeth and Chidanand Sanskrit Vidyapeeth were included.
On the field, grammarian Dr. Sheshnarayan Mishra and Veda Acharya Vikas Dixit created a stir with their Sanskrit commentary. The spectators were stunned to see the agility with which the players, dressed in their traditional costumes, dived and stole runs.
Vedanti Ved Vidyapeeth won the title
An exciting final match of the competition was played between Shastrarth Mahavidyalaya and Swami Vedanti Ved Vidyapeeth. In the final match, Swami Vedanti Ved Vidyapeeth performed brilliantly and defeated International Chandramouli Trust by eight wickets and won the championship trophy. This event not only arouses enthusiasm for sports, but also gives the message that Sanskrit is not just a language of rituals, but is alive and relevant in every sphere of life.
