New Delhi: BYD India have issued a voluntary recall to replace the high-voltage battery of the Seal according to the brand’s service centre technicians. Even though the exact number of units recalled haven’t been disclosed as of now, the Chinese brand have requested all BYD Seal customers in the country to have their cars checked from authorised service stations due to a probable fault in Seal’s Blade battery.
A possible issue concerning the individual cells that make up the Seal’s battery pack means that the brand is currently offering customers affected by this a free replacement. Those with a BYD Seal have been requested to book an appointment at an authorised service centre, preferably on weekdays.
Once at the service centre, technicians will perform an OBD (On-board diagnostics) check. If the scan detects any issue with the Seal’s Blade Battery cells, the EV will have the entire battery pack replaced without any charge. In case the owner is unable to take their car on their own, BYD India will dispatch personnel to have the car picked up and driven to the concerned service centre.
As reported by Autocar India, the BYD representative spoke to the publication and assured the same delivery to the customers following battery replacement.
The battery recall doesn’t go for any of the other models that the brand sells currently in India. The BYD Seal is an electric saloon that comes with two battery pack options, the 61.44 kWh and 82.56 kWh and is available in three trims, Dynamic (Standard range), Premium (Extended range) and Performance (AWD).
