PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi on Monday (January 26) took to X and revealed that he met the PM. “Had a productive meeting with the Prime Minister … Shehbaz Sharif. Briefed him on the ICC matter, and he directed that we resolve it while keeping all options on the table. It was agreed that the final decision will be taken either on Friday or next Monday,” he posted on X.

Naqvi showed solidarity to Bangladesh after they were officially replaced by Scotland and said: “You can’t have double standards. You can’t say for one country [India] they can do whatever they want and for the others to have to do the complete opposite. That’s why we’ve taken this stand, and made clear Bangladesh have had an injustice done to them. They should play in the World Cup, they are a major stakeholder in cricket.”

Pakistan are placed in Group A along with the USA, India, Namibia and Netherlands. They will kick off their campaign against Netherlands before taking on the USA on February 10. Uganda will face India on February 15. The fixture is slated to take place in Sri Lanka. The match might be shifted to India if Pakistan pull out. Uganda will take on Namibia in their last match on February 18.
