Another season of IPL has come again with the same question- will MS Dhoni retire after this season? Dhoni’s knee problems since the last 2-3 seasons, repeated delays for his batting and due to increasing age, this question keeps happening. In such a situation, in IPL 2025, curiosity and restlessness about this remains intact. But in the meantime, a new statement of Dhoni has also come out about retirement, which may give some relief to the fans. Dhoni has said that his body will take this decision and he has 10 months left for it.
During the match played between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals on Saturday 5 April in IPL 2025, it was just a question on everyone’s mind and tongue. This is because Dhoni’s parents were also present at the Chepock Stadium for this match. This was the first time in Dhoni’s entire career when parents came to the stadium to watch his match. In such a situation, there was a possibility in the minds of the fans that it should not prove to be their last match.
’10 months for decision, body will decide’
However, this has not happened and so far the expectations of the fans are alive. But a day after this match, a statement of Dhoni has come out, in which he answered the question of retirement. In the podcast of YouTuber Raj Shamani, Dhoni talked about this and said that he is not thinking about it. On the question of retirement, Dhoni said, “Not currently. I am still playing IPL and I have kept it very simple. I think of one year at a time. I am 43 now, I will be 44 years old in this July.”
Dhoni further said, “I have 10 months to decide whether I have to play for one more year or not. I am not making this decision, it decides your body whether you can play or not.”
Fans will get relief
However, Dhoni’s statement has not come after the Chennai-Delhi match, but the IPL 2025 is before the start. This interview was done for the launch of a new mobile app in the name of Dhoni, some parts of which are coming on social media. Despite this, amid rumors of retirement, Dhoni’s statement must have given some relief to the fans that his ‘Captain Cool’ would be seen playing at least throughout this season.
