How does this fraud happen?
Usually when guys take girls to hotels, he pays the bill. They give girls the opportunity to choose the food and drinks of their choice and most of the boys do not even look at the price. Also, for the convenience of the girls, they go to the hotel invited by them. Taking advantage of this mentality of boys, some fraudsters contact boys by creating profiles on dating apps like Bumble, Tinder, Cling. Before long, they call to meet at a restaurant somewhere. When girls invite themselves, there are very few boys who refuse. So they go to the place called by him.
But those restaurants already have deals with the girls involved in this type of fraud. Due to their acquaintanceship on the app, the boys have no idea about this deal. As soon as they go there, the girls order the most expensive wine, drinks etc. from the menu. She doesn’t even ask for formality, ‘Should I order this?’ Sometimes the prices of the drinks they order are not even listed on the menu. After this, even before she can finish the ordered food, she gets an urgent call and leaves from there under the pretext of a call.
Then comes the bill. Yes, the restaurant staff gives you the bill only after the girl leaves. Seeing that bill will definitely make you sweat for a moment. Most of the bills given here are of more than Rs 20 thousand. At this time, if you are surprised and raise questions on this, then bouncers are ready to threaten you.
Such cases have come to light in many cafes in posh areas like MG Road and Koramangala, famous for Bengaluru’s nightlife, where a person was handed a bill of Rs 40,000.
