More than 86 thousand rural women are today writing a new story of self-reliance through milk business in Chitrakoot, Jhansi, Banda, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Mahoba and Lalitpur. Balinese Women Producer Company: Organized and Transparent Dairy Model
With the aim of making the milk business organized, transparent and profitable in Bundelkhand, ‘Balini Milk Producer Company’ of women milk producers was formed. This company is completely run by women and is bringing a big change in the rural economy.
Freedom from middlemen, direct market and fair prices
After joining the Balinese model, women are no longer dependent on middlemen. Through the organization, the finished milk products have been directly linked to the market, due to which women are getting fair prices and timely payment. This has made dairy business more safe and profitable for women.
Employment increased through milk collection, quality testing and digital payments
Under the Dairy Value Chain Project, more than 86,000 women from 3,600 self-help groups have been organized in 952 villages of seven districts of Bundelkhand. Systems like milk collection, quality testing, digital payments and direct market linkage have increased women’s income and created new employment opportunities in villages.
Women leading economic change through collective effort
The Yogi government has a clear goal that the economic strength of women should become the pivot of rural development. With this thinking in mind, dairy projects are being expanded rapidly in Bundelkhand. Today Balinese Milk Producer Company has not only become a successful dairy model, but is also showing that with collective effort and the right guidance, rural women can bring about major economic changes.
