How to identify original Chikankari?
Original chikankari is always done by hand. Its threads can be clearly seen on both sides. Even the stitches are very fine, whereas a readymade kurta is softer and better finishing than chikankari.
What is the difference between chikankari suit and normal salwar suit?
More than 30 types of stitches are traditionally used in Chikankari embroidery. The most famous of which are Bakhiya, Phanda, Murri, Keel Kangan, Tapchi, Hool, Rahet, Zanjeer and Ghas Patti, which make the suit special. Whereas normal ones come on one stitch and their fabric is also quite different.
