Team India’s young batsman Abhishek Sharma continues to deliver explosive innings with his bat. Abhishek, who is considered to be Team India’s biggest hope in the T20 World Cup 2026, has been giving sleepless nights to the bowlers for the last one and a half years and has played such innings which have surprised everyone. But in the third T20 match against New Zealand, Abhishek stunned everyone by scoring a half-century in just 14 balls, due to which Team India won in just 60 balls. Abhishek broke some special records with his innings but could not break Yuvraj Singh’s record and Abhishek’s mentor made fun of him on social media for this.

In this match played on January 25 in Guwahati, Abhishek Sharma thrashed the New Zealand bowlers in such a way that it would send shivers down the spine of any bowler. Abhishek was batting on every ball and he was getting boundaries on almost every ball. The result was that Abhishek completed his half-century by hitting a six on the last ball of the powerplay. This was only the 14th ball of his innings, on which the Indian opener crossed the 50 mark.

What did Yuvraj say to Abhishek?

On the basis of this, Abhishek completed the second fastest half-century for India in T20 International. But he could not break the record of his mentor and Team India legend Yuvraj Singh. Yuvraj completed his half-century in just 12 balls against England in 2007, which was a world record for a long time. If Abhishek could not break this record, Yuvraj had fun with him. Tagging Abhishek on the social media platform ‘X’, Yuvraj jokingly wrote, “Still can’t hit 50 runs in 12 balls?” Yuvraj again praised Abhishek and said that he should play well and keep moving forward.

Team won in just 60 balls

Talking about the match, New Zealand, batting first, scored 153 runs, in which Glenn Phillips played an inning of 48 runs. For Team India, star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah took maximum 3 wickets, while Ravi Bishnoi, who returned to the team after a year, also took 2 wickets. In response to this, Team India lost the wicket of Sanju Samson on the first ball itself. But after this, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and captain Suryakumar Yadav destroyed the Kiwi bowling and won the match by 8 wickets, achieving the target in just 60 balls.
