Padma Awards 2026: On the eve of Republic Day, Bollywood’s ‘He-Man’ Dharmendra and former Kerala Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan have been given the country’s second highest civilian award Padma Vibhushan (posthumously). The award is given for “exceptional and distinguished service”.
Actor Mammootty, former Jharkhand chief minister Shibu Soren (posthumously), adman Piyush Pandey (posthumously), Kotak Mahindra Bank founder Uday Kotak, singer Alka Yagnik, former tennis player Vijay Amritraj, controversial former Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari are among those who have been awarded the Padma Bhushan.
Let us tell you that Padma Vibhushan is given for exceptional and distinguished service, Padma Bhushan for distinguished service of high level, and Padma Shri for distinguished service in any field. These awards are given in many fields like arts, social service, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports and civil services.
