From claims to pension, all tasks will become easy, know 10 big changes

Employees Provident Fund Organization

Under the Centralized IT Enabled Services (CITES) project, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has shifted the data of all its members to a centralized digital platform. The purpose of this major technological change is to make EPFO services faster, easier and more transparent than before.

Union Labor and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has announced many major changes under this new system. These include faster claim settlement, automatic transfer of PF account on change of job, increasing the auto-settlement limit of advance claim, taking services from any PF office in the country and simplifying the process of PF withdrawal. Let us know the 10 big changes made for EPF and EPS members.

1. EPF interest will be credited to account by 15th July

According to Mansukh Mandaviya, EPF interest for the financial year 2025-26 will be deposited in the accounts of the members by July 15, 2026. Interest of about Rs 1.44 lakh crore will be transferred to about 34 crore EPF accounts after verification.

2. All PF information will be available at one place

Now a unified digital interface will be available as soon as you login to the EPFO member portal. Here members will be able to see their membership, PF balance, claim status, pension records and all the benefits received so far at one place.

3. Claim will be investigated first

Now the system will automatically pre-validate the claim even before it reaches the EPFO office. If there is any deficiency in any document or information, the member will be informed in advance. This will greatly reduce the chances of the claim being rejected.

Members will also be able to know the maximum amount of PF they can withdraw for different needs.4. Advance claims up to Rs 5 lakh will be auto-settled. On completion of KYC, advance PF claims up to Rs 5 lakh will now be settled through auto-settlement. Earlier this limit was only Rs 1 lakh.

5. Claim settlement will be faster

If any additional information is required during the claim, EPFO will be able to send questions online and members will also be able to respond online. With this, there will be no need to visit the office again and again and claims will be settled quickly. Also, the claim amount will be sent directly to the bank account on the same day of settlement.

6. High interest and easy withdrawal rules

Now interest on the last PF payment will be available till the date of approval of payment. Earlier interest was added only till the last day of the previous month.

Additionally, the earlier 13 different withdrawal rules have been reduced to just three categories—essential needs, housing needs and special circumstances. Now members will be able to withdraw up to 75% of their total PF balance.

7. PF will be transferred automatically on change of job.

Now there will be no need to fill separate PF transfer form on changing job. The PF account will be automatically transferred to the new company through the UAN linked to Aadhaar.

8. Service will be available from any PF office in the country

Now EPFO members will not be limited to their regional office. They will be able to get help and information from any PF office in the country.

9. You can submit life certificate anywhere

EPS pensioners will now be able to go to any EPFO office in the country and submit life certificate or avail other services.

10. Pension will come in any bank account

Under the new centralized pension payment system, pension can now be deposited in any bank account in the country. Earlier pension was available only in that bank branch which was linked to PPO.
