Nowadays the problem of baldness is increasing in men. Due to bad lifestyle, diet, stress, tension, pollution, genetics and other reasons, hair fall and baldness are increasing in men.

Especially this problem becomes more worrying when it starts happening at an early age. Let us tell you that male pattern baldness or androgenic alopecia is a common problem of hair loss in men. According to the Cleveland Clinic, this occurs in the late 20s or early 30s. In this, hair falls from the head and then does not grow again.

According to the report of Cleveland Clinic, male pattern baldness does not happen suddenly, it has seven stages.

  • In the first stage, there is very little or no hair fall and the hairline also remains normal.
  • In the second stage, hair fall starts on the forehead and behind the ears.
  • In the third stage, the hairline on both sides of the forehead goes far back and the hair pattern starts looking like ‘M’ or ‘U’.
  • In the fourth stage, hair starts falling from the middle of the head.
  • In the fifth stage, the hairline starts receding and joining the bald area in the middle of the head.
  • In the sixth stage, hair starts falling on both sides of the forehead and the middle part of the head.
  • In the seventh stage, there is no hair at all on the head and only a thin strip like line of hair remains on the edges.

Many researches have been done on the problem of baldness and many medicines have also come in the market which claim to cure male pattern baldness, but till now no medicine has been proved effective. Recently a medicine named Clascoterone has shown good results. On Wednesday, November 31, 2025, Ireland’s Cosmo Pharmaceuticals announced the results of two Phase-III trials of this drug.

The company said that they created two groups of 1,500 men, one of which was given placebo and the other given classoteron. In the first trial itself, the drug showed 539% improvement, while in the second trial, 168% improvement was recorded. At the same time, in terms of side effects, the company said that claskoterone is safe and tolerable.

It is expected that after these good results, approval can be obtained from FDA next year. If this happens, classoterone would be the first drug to treat male pattern baldness in the last 30 years. Also, if this medicine is approved, it can help many people suffering from androgenic alopecia or spending money for it. However, it is worth noting that this same medicine was approved by the FDA for the treatment of acne in 2020, when the company Cassiopea introduced it.
