Mumbai Police had arrested KRK in connection with the firing incident that took place in Oshiwara area of Andheri, Mumbai on January 18, 2026. Now his custody has been extended till January 27.
Kamal R Khan will remain in police custody: Actor-producer and self-proclaimed critic Kamal R. Khan has been sent to police custody till January 27 on charges of using weapons. Police, while presenting KRK in the court, said that two bullets were fired and one cartridge was recovered. The motive behind the firing is not yet known.
Bullets hit the flat of director and model
KRK’s lawyer said that an unknown person opened fire on two different flats (the flats of writer-director Neeraj Kumar Mishra and model Prateek Baid (29). He said that the distance between the two buildings is 400 meters and the range of the weapons is 20 meters. He also told that he did not know that person. He had nothing to do with it and had no intention of firing the shot.

KRK confessed to firing
At present no clue has been found from CCTV footage. Forensic investigation revealed that the bullets might have been fired from a bungalow located near KRK. During interrogation at Oshiwara police station, KRK confessed to firing the weapon with a license registered in his name and said that he fired the bullets while cleaning and testing the gun, aiming at the nearby mangrove area, but due to strong winds, the bullets deviated and hit the building. The officials seized the gun and registered a case under several sections. The court has sent him to police custody for further investigation. The exact motive behind the incident and whether it was a deliberate or negligent incident is still under investigation.
